Rusty Bolt Rules

The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication. For compliance with these rules and/or regulations, these guidelines are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official.

The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that, in his or her opinion, do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements.

No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of specifications. Any interpretation or deviation from these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.

Soggy Bottom Raceway, LLC. Management

If it doesn't say you can, you can't.

1. Any six or eight cylinder car is acceptable, provided that it meets safety requirements. No four cylinders allowed.
2. No convertibles, trucks, station wagons, or four wheel drives allowed.
2a. Chevys allowed with 305s only. Thirty over bore; only 305 heads only. No 307s—Fords 302 only or smaller. No Vortex Heads allowed, no dome pistons, stock camshafts only. No porting of any kind. Stock size diameter valve springs, stock diameter valves. No screw-in studs or guide plates. No center dump manifolds, factory Quadra jet aluminum intakes allowed. Aluminum radiators are allowed, as are steel reduction V pulleys. Power steering pumps are optional.
3. All glass must be removed; you must have a screen in place of the windshield.
4. No high performance or race parts permitted!
5. All doors must be welded, chained, and bolted shut!
6. No modifications to body, suspension, or engine. Fender wells may be trimmed for tire clearance. Rear inner fender wells must remain in place! Head and tail lights must be removed. No third brake lights. Stock bumpers with small Nerf bars are allowed. Bumper must be chained to frame. No mirrors are permitted.
7. All cars must have a number on both of the sides and on top (18” or larger).
8. No locked rear ends or positive traction. No shimming! No limited slips! Single wheel pull only.
9. All tires must be steel belted radials. No trick tires or DOT Hoosier or Mcreary race tires. No mud tires, and all must be the same size—all fourteen or fifteen inches with no stagger; 75 or 70 series only. No grooving allowed.
10. 1” (one inch) lug nuts on all wheels. No aluminum wheels allowed. 7" (seven inch) racing wheel with stock offset for that car. Mandatory on the right side.
12. No performance carburetors! Must be OEM two or four Barrell; fuel injection allowed on six cylinder cars only!
13. Tow chain on front and back of car mandatory!
14. Roll bars are allowed through the front and rear firewalls; snout bars can connect to the main cage front and rear.
15. Automatic transmissions only. No power glides. Stock torque converters only.
16. No “Made for racing” shocks or springs allowed.

Driver's Requirement
1. This class is for beginners 14 years old and up and those that have not finished in the top five more than twice in the mini stock or cruiser races. No other division allowed. No pros or experienced drivers allowed! Experience counts if you have raced dirt or asphalt! The track can and will determine if you can race in the Rusty Bolt Division. Also, the track can and will move you up a class if you are out-classing and out-running the field on a regular basis.
2. Anyone winning three or more races may be torn down by the track!
3. Any driver that wins eight features or more is subject to be moved to the Cruiser Division at the track's discretion

4.The points champion for that season must move up a class the next year or sit out a year.

Safety Rules
1. All drivers and riders must wear helmets, seat belts, long sleeves, and long pants!
2. Made for racing window nets on both sides are mandatory if both seats are in the car! You must have a screen in place of windshield!
3. Six point roll-over bars are mandatory. Roll bar cushions are mandatory wherever the person touches the cage!
4. Door plates are mandatory if no less than three door bars are present (plate size 1/4” x 12”) and must extend past front and center post. Full cage allowed for this class.
5. All cars must have a working fire extinguisher in car!
6. Rear seat, headliner and carpet must be removed!
7. Gas tank or boat tank can be strapped in the trunk. Must have a steel firewall between tank and driver, and the fuel line must exit from top!
8. Riders: Hospital insurance is mandatory for any driver and rider under the age of 18 years and they must show proof! You must have door plates on both sides for the rider! No exceptions!
9. Brakes must work on all four wheels.

Inspection
1. Refusal to permit inspection will result in immediate disqualification!

Claim Rules
2. Claim on engine is $900 cash (for the long block only). No accessories. Anyone claiming an engine must be running on the lead lap at the end of race and must pay the track official on the front stretch before leaving the race track. The penalty for refusing claim: No money or points for that night. If claimed twice and you refuse both claims, you will not be allowed to race in the Rusty Bolt Division for the rest of the year. Also, the track keeps $100 for any claim attempts, regardless of the outcome. If you sell, you get $800. If you claim and they don't sell, you get $800 back while the track keeps $100, regardless of the outcome.
3. Technical Inspector’s decision is final!
